GPS Speedometer
LC-8300A

New GPS speedometer lineup: LC-8300A is the flagship model of Ono Sokki, a pioneer in speedometers. Our unique IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) correction algorithm ensures stable speed measurements regardless of the test environment, even in urban areas where radio interference can easily occur due to trees, buildings, and other obstacles. It is equipped with a wealth of testing functions that conform to regulations and can be used for a variety of vehicle tests. Compact body design and simple configuration enable testing without a PC. It can be used for a wide range of testing and measurement needs.

Features

1. Strengthening Data Governance New Features

It allows for a quick and clear understanding of the authenticity of test results, while also contributing to the efficiency of post-test evaluation work.

Full output of the settings content.

This is a function that saves and prints all settings that affect measurement and calculation results.
Not only can you check the settings later, but it can also be used as a means to prove that the test results have not been manipulated arbitrarily.

  • Full output of the settings content.

Record of precision level determination results.

This is a function to record the precision level assessment results (Precision) in the data file.
It allows you to easily check whether the measurement results meet the precision standards specified by various automotive testing regulations.

  • Record of precision level determination results.

Record of Trigger Factors

This is a function that records the causes of trigger occurrences in a data file.
Since you can later check which trigger started or stopped the measurement, it clarifies that the test was conducted correctly and enhances the reliability of the results.

  • Record of Trigger Factors

Functionality enhancement for ABS testing.

Required options LC-0833 Track Display Software
LC-0836 IMU Data Output Function

The deviation amount of the vehicle (lateral flow amount) and the change in yaw angle (vehicle tilt angle) can now be measured, displayed, and saved.
In ABS testing, the ability to perform quantitative evaluations using measuring instruments instead of subjective judgments based on visual inspection improves the authenticity and reproducibility of the test results.

  • Functionality enhancement for ABS testing.

2. Improved operability New features

Based on the feedback received from our customers, we pursued usability improvements such as operability and visibility.

IMU zero adjustment function

This is a function that adjusts the acceleration values along the X/Y/Z axes and the roll, pitch, and yaw angles to zero. By using button operations on the display or app, the current state can be set as the zero point. This eliminates the need for post-processing corrections for gravitational acceleration (-9.8 m/s²) and deviations caused by the IMU tilt, thereby reducing the workload.

  • IMU zero adjustment function

Display of file name on the display device.

After the measurement is completed, the filename will now be displayed on the screen. This will make it easier and more reliable to link driving data, which was previously done with limited information such as update times.

  • Display of file name on the display device.

Expansion of data file loading limits.

The size limit of data files that can be loaded by application software has been significantly expanded. Long measurement data such as field tests can also be handled smoothly.
(Previous version) 65,000 points (about 10 minutes 50 seconds*) → (New version) 500,000 points (about 83 minutes 20 seconds*)
*In the case of 100 Hz sampling.

3. Renewal of optional features New features

Trajectory Analysis Function (LC-0833 Trajectory Display Software)

A new feature has been added that not only enhances the authenticity of exams but also contributes to improving work efficiency and safety during the exams.

Coasting test function (LC-0837 coasting test software, LC-0829N main unit coasting test function)

This is a system for measuring rolling resistance by coasting a vehicle. It complies with various regulations such as 'UN R154', 'SAE J2263', and China's 'GB', making it applicable to a wide range of testing requirements.

4. Stability Measurement

Two reasons for achieving outstanding stability.

Improvement in satellite capture performance

Adopting a high-sensitivity GPS/GLONASS receiver that is approximately four times more sensitive than conventional models. Compared to previous models, satellite capture performance has significantly improved, eliminating concerns about interruptions in satellite capture during measurements. Additionally, it is possible to install the antenna inside the vehicle.

Fusion of GPS and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit)

Not only speed information from GPS, but also by correcting with IMU, stable measurements are achieved even in environments where radio wave reception is unstable.
Additionally, even when the satellite capture status is good, continuous speed correction by IMU is performed, allowing for very smooth speed output compared to GPS alone.

  • The above image illustrates the concept of satellite capture and correction by IMU. It does not necessarily guarantee the accuracy of the product or the number of satellites captured. Additionally, depending on the type of vehicle and driving environment, the number of satellites captured may decrease, resulting in unstable measurements.

Increasingly expanding utilization scenes

to various testing environments

In open areas like test courses, as well as in urban areas where signal interference is likely due to trees and buildings, and even when passing under elevated structures, stable measurements can be taken without being troubled by satellite loss.
Additionally, when the vehicle is stopped, such as at a traffic signal, the speed display will stop at 0 km/h. There is no fluctuation in the display.
* Depending on the driving environment, the number of satellites captured may decrease, leading to unstable measurements.

For a wide range of testing needs.

In addition to being mounted on the roof of the car, the GPS antenna can also be installed inside the vehicle*.
It can be utilized for a wide range of testing needs, such as driving resistance performance.

  • Image of GPS antenna installation (on the dashboard inside the vehicle)

* Depending on the vehicle type and driving environment, the number of satellite captures may decrease, leading to unstable measurements.
* In tests requiring high distance accuracy and involving sudden acceleration and deceleration, please install the antenna on the roof.

perfect for such an exam scene

Noise Test
I do not want to install equipment that affects wind noise

Coasting Test
I do not want to increase air resistance due to antennas or cables

Field Test
I want to conduct stable tests even in the field
I do not want to attach anything noticeable to the body

Testing in Severe Weather*
I want to conduct tests without worrying about the antenna during rain or snow, etc.

* The antenna has a protection rating of IP67. It can also be installed outside the vehicle (body) in severe weather.

High response

even with rapid acceleration and sudden braking

By fusing GPS and IMU information for calculations, we have achieved high-precision and high-response speed measurement. It is possible to accurately measure speed even during rapid acceleration and deceleration. This makes it ideal for tests that require precision in transient response, such as acceleration tests, braking tests, and handling stability. Our proprietary calculation algorithm ensures a balance between responsiveness, stability, and low noise.

  • Measurement example (Emergency braking from 50 to 0 km/h)
  • Measurement example (chip-in - chip-out * 10←→40 km/h)

6. Compact body design

to various test vehicles

Achieved a space-saving design with a volume ratio of about 60% compared to the LC-8120. Furthermore, the IMU is built into the main unit to reduce wiring. By equipping the speedometer main unit with storage functionality, testing can be conducted in a simple configuration with only the LC-8300A GPS speedometer main unit and peripherals (main unit test mode: PC-less). Additionally, by adding the GPS speedometer main unit testing function option, tests compliant with regulations such as acceleration performance and braking performance can be conducted without a PC.
It can be used not only for four-wheeled vehicles but also for two-wheeled vehicles and agricultural and construction machinery where installation space is limited.
