With a wide variety of sensors, it's now possible to measure rotational speed, something that was previously impossible.

"Motor & Engine Tachometer CT-6710" assists in xEV development

Available from Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Ono Sokki Co., Ltd. (President: Yuji Okoshi), a manufacturer and distributor of electronic measuring instruments, will begin selling the "Motor & Engine Tachometer CT-6710," which provides stable measurement of rotational speeds for motors, engines, and other devices, starting March 26th (Tuesday).

Ono Sokki is a pioneer in Digital Tachometer, having developed the world's first Digital Tachometer for jet engines in 1954 and subsequently releasing numerous products to the market.

In applications involving the measurement of motor and engine rotational speeds, phenomena such as fluctuations in readings due to noise and engine behavior, and the inability to detect speeds during sudden increases or decreases, are commonplace, creating a demand for stable measurement. In response to these demands, this is the first renewal in eight years since the release of the previous model, the "Digital Tachometer CT-6700".

The "Motor & Digital Tachometer CT-6710" inherits the lightweight and compact body that was well-received in previous models, while enhancing various functions to enable more stable measurements. With this product, we will assist in the diversifying mobility development scenarios brought about by the shift to xEVs.

Three key features of the new product

  • Expanding the lineup of compatible sensors
  • Enhanced functionality for stable measurement expands the range of applications for conventional sensors.
  • A separate analog rotation speed indicator is now available.

Target Market

  • Automobile manufacturers and automotive parts manufacturers (motors for EVs or hybrid vehicles)
  • Agricultural machinery and construction machinery manufacturers, etc.

Background of Development

When accurately measuring the rotational speed of motors and engines, "stability" is essential. For example, you might want to reliably measure the rotational speed of a motor with simple installation. Or you might want stable measurements from engine startup to high RPM ranges... In response to these needs, we have renewed our Digital Tachometer. With a wide variety of sensors, it supports EV/HEV motors, gasoline engines, and diesel engines. It ensures reliable performance and stable measurements.

Features

The lineup of compatible sensors has expanded, allowing for even more measurements.

The rotational speeds of motors and diesel engines, which were previously difficult to measure, can now be measured thanks to the expansion of compatible sensors.

Ultra-compact Electromagnetic Detector MP-992

This device uses electromagnetic induction to detect magnetic flux leakage from the rotating shaft of motors and magnetic ignition engines. Its compact size, with a sensor head length of 13mm, allows for installation in confined spaces.

NP-3000 series Accelerometer with built-in preamplifier

This piezoelectric vibration detection method detects vibrations caused by the up-and-down movement of the piston. Its high sensitivity and wide frequency range allow for rotational speed measurement even with small vibrations.

  • The lineup of compatible sensors has expanded, allowing for even more measurements.

Even sensors that were previously compatible will now be able to measure more.

We've enhanced the functionality to suppress unwanted noise signals and rotational speed variations, ensuring stable measurements. This expands the range of applications for your existing sensors. Please try this if you encounter any of the following issues.

Input frequency divider function

The algorithm allows for measurements with noise close to the amplitude of the input pulse signal reduced.

Trigger level tracking function

It can measure engine rotation speed stably from idling to high RPM range. (IP series exclusive feature)

A new, separate "Analog Rotation Speed Display CT-0677" is now available.

This is an optional, separate display unit that fulfills the need to see the rotational speed behavior using an analog meter needle. No power connection is required for the display unit. Simply connect the analog signal cable (included as standard with the display unit) for easy use.
