Contributing to a carbon-neutral society through support for next-generation EV development

Ono Sokki releases second edition of its electric vehicle benchmarking report

Available from Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

Ono Sokki Co., Ltd. (President: Yuji Okoshi), a manufacturer and distributor of electronic measuring instruments, has added a "Thermal Management" report for BYD's Yuan PLUS (known as ATTO3 in Japan), China's largest EV manufacturer, to its "Benchmarking Report Sales" service, which was released in June 2023. The report will be available for purchase starting today. In addition, a new 12-item report on BYD's "SEAL" (known as SEAL in Japan) will also be released.

Since our founding, we have supported leading Japanese companies, including automobile manufacturers. In addition to manufacturing and selling measuring instruments, we aim to support our customers' manufacturing processes by "measuring" ourselves. This report will be expanded periodically based on customer needs. Through the sale of this product, we will contribute to a carbon-neutral society.

Features

  • We provide measurement data utilizing our strengths in measurement and analysis technologies related to "acoustics and vibration."
  • This includes measurement data related to BYD, China's largest EV manufacturer.

*We plan to expand our measurement data to include four vehicle models per year, not limited to Chinese vehicles.

Target Market

  • Automobile manufacturers and other companies involved in electric vehicles

Newly added report

  • BYD has added "Thermal Management" to its PLUS (Japanese name: ATTO3) report.
  • We offer a complete 12-item report on the BYD SEAL (known as "Seal" in Japan).

Regarding the sale of benchmarking reports

*Available from June 2023

In the increasingly sophisticated and diverse field of automotive development, benchmarking is a crucial source of information. Especially in EV development, where speed is paramount, there is a strong need to quickly acquire information and utilize it in the development process.
Furthermore, this information is needed not only by automobile manufacturers but also by a wide range of companies, including those related to motor suppliers.

Our company, as a measuring instrument manufacturer, is committed to providing reports focused on electric vehicles, leveraging our unique perspective. Through the provision of benchmarking reports, Ono Sokki contributes to a carbon-neutral society.

Thermal Management

This vehicle uses a heat pump to manage battery temperature and provide cabin air conditioning. The vehicle is operated under varying ambient temperature, driving conditions, and air conditioning settings, and the temperature changes in various parts and the behavior of the refrigerant control valve are measured together.

Output characteristics: A graph showing the motor efficiency of the power unit.
Output characteristics: A graph showing the motor efficiency of the power unit.

Output characteristics Power unit efficiency

We used a hub dynamo to measure the output characteristics for each drive mode and the maximum output for each State of Control (SOC).
We have obtained the power unit efficiency map (drive shaft output / battery power).

Output limiting characteristics

Using a hub dynamo, we investigated the behavior of the system when maintaining maximum output, specifically how it behaves until output limitations are reached, and how it behaves when it runs out of power.

Driving force characteristics, tip-out characteristics, regenerative characteristics

We used a hub dynamometer to measure the drive shaft output characteristics in relation to accelerator opening for each drive mode.
We measured the deceleration characteristics when the battery was chipped out, as well as the deceleration and regenerative power for each State of Charge (SOC), including a fully charged battery.
We investigated the regenerative braking characteristics (regenerative energy amount and mechanical brake behavior) when the brake pedal is operated.

Driving resistance

In accordance with GTR No.15 Amendment 6, we calculated the driving resistance from the coasting time measured on the test course. This data can be used as load data for performing mode-based energy consumption and real-world driving simulations on a test bench.

Tire rolling resistance

Based on JIS D 4234, we measured the rolling resistance and rolling resistance coefficient of the original equipment tires.

Motor and inverter vibration

To investigate the vibration of the motor and inverter during steady and transient operation in the low to high speed range, a 3-axis Accelerometer was installed, and measurements and analyses were performed.

Motor inverter sound

1/2-inch microphones were installed on each of the six sides of the power unit, including the motor and inverter, and measurements and analyses were performed during steady-state and transient operation from low speed to high speed.

Power unit mount vibration

To investigate the vibrations transmitted from the power unit to the vehicle body, we used a 3-axis Accelerometer to measure and analyze vibrations on both the unit and body sides of the power unit mount.

A microphone is set up to measure noise inside the vehicle.

Car interior noise
1/2-inch microphones were installed in the driver's and passenger's seats inside the vehicle, and noise levels were measured and analyzed during steady and transient driving at low to high speeds.

Transmission system vibration characteristics

We measured and analyzed the vibrations of the steering column and the driver's seat when driving on a harsh road surface.

Suspension and tire vibration

To investigate vibrations transmitted from the tires while driving, we measured and analyzed vibrations from the steering knuckle and suspension towers, among other components.

alarm bell

We installed a noise meter on an ISO-certified road surface in a location compliant with the Road Transport Vehicle Act and measured the noise level when a vehicle's horn was activated.
